Summer of Sketching Week 6: Collab
What a crazy week it's been! I've been running all around preparing for my upcoming South America adventure, which is just a few weeks away. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the changes that are coming up, but I'm trying to balance it out by de-stressing and going to the skatepark.
I also had the privilege of hanging with the Adobe team this week and testing out their new iPad drawing apps at the Make It On Mobile event. Meeting all the other artists they invited was beyond inspiring. I'm still working on a recap blog post to share what I learned, but in the meantime, you can see some photos from the event here.
#MakeItOnMobile Poster Giveaway on Instagram
I decided to turn this into a fun giveaway because... why not? Leave a comment on my instagram post from yesterday and I'll pick a random person tomorrow who will receive my 18x24 poster I created using Adobe Sketch.
Last week's prompt was CHANGE
Seems like this one really struck a chord because there were a lot more entries than the previous weeks. Everyone seems going through some kind of transition and from what I've seen, reflecting/sharing about it can really help the process. It's not too late to catch up on previous weeks so give it a shot if you missed out.
Here are some of my favorites from week 5. (Check out that intense self portrait at the bottom!)
Week 6 Prompt: COLLAB
I used to think I was a "lone wolf" type of designer. However I've found over the years, that collaboration is one of the best ways think creatively and push yourself. At work I spend a lot of time working with others – so much so that it has become 2nd nature for me.
I know not everyone is a good team player, but I love this feeling so much and I wish everyone would try it more.
1 + 1 = 3
This week I want you to find a friend who will help you create something. It can be as simple as letting them color in your lines, or you can go beyond your sketchbook, draw on a chalkboard or make something from 3D materials. Take it any way you want. Have fun and post your piece on Instagram with #summerofsketching.
I wrote an article a while back on What Makes a Good Artist Collab. Check it out if you need more guidance for this week's prompt.
