Tomis & Nancy

When I found out that two of my favorite people were getting married, I decided to create this lettering as a gift for them.  

Inspired by the work of Tony DiSpignia, the chosen direction for this piece was a traditional Spencerian script with some extra personal flare.

The process was four stages:

• Rough sketch
• Brush pen tracing based on the pencil framework
• Tight pencil sketch
• and finally, Vectorization in Illustrator

If you look closely, you can see the design tweaks made from one stage to the next, all working towards creating a clean, eye-catching composition.

However subtle, the most important detail was the thin connected stroke between the two names (from the M to the N), symbolizing the special bond shared between Tomis & Nancy.
