ABOUT SUMMER OF SKETCHING
——————————————————
Summer of Sketching is a community challenge for outdoorsy artists. 2017 is the 4th year running!
The challenge was instigated by NYC based letterer, Eric Friedensohn, the summer of 2014 in hopes of getting more artists outside and over their fear of the dreaded blank page.
The challenge is simple, spend some time once a week sketching outdoors. You don't have to make a masterpiece, just draw. Draw by yourself, draw with friends, draw with your furry friends in the park, up to you!
ABOUT THE EVENT
——————————————————
To celebrate the first day of *Summer of Sketching* (and first official day of summer), letterers Ari Woeste & Jon King will be hosting the very first Minneapolis Summer of Sketching meetup! SoS meetups are happening all over the world to celebrate: Manhattan, Michigan, and Melbourne (and growing)!
It will be held in the Performance Hall at A-Mill Artist Lofts in St. Anthony Main. We will meet there but you can drift across the street to the picnic tables at Father Hennepin Park if you'd rather stay true to the outdoorsyness of the challenge. ;)
BYOB / BYOSketchbook + Pencils!
Minimal drawing supplies will be provided on a first come, first served basis (crayons, colored pencils, printer paper).
Some of us may find ourselves at the bars next door (Jefe: Urban Hacienda, aster cafe) after the event and you're more than welcome to join!
This is a free event open to all ages and skill levels.
