Summer of Sketching 2017 Launches in 2 Weeks!
On Sunday, June 25th, we'll be having our first NYC Sketching Meetup. We will be drinking and drawing starting at 4pm at the backyard of Revivial (a bar/venue near Union Square) and hanging there for 2-3 hours. Bring a friend + your sketchbook and come have a drink with us!
The annual Summer of Sketching project kicks off in just 2 weeks. If you've been looking for an excuse to get away from your desk and start drawing consistently, this project is for you!
What is Summer of Sketching?
A while back I noticed a trend that graphic designers and other creative people, including myself, were spending too much time indoors on the computer and also wishing they could be better at drawing. So I started a side project to change that.
It's pretty simple. Each weekend in the summer time we venture out to a different place in our city and bring a sketchbook along for the ride. You'd be surprised what a simple change of environment can do for your creativity.
Throughout the summer you can join in by posting photos of your original sketches on Instagram with #summerofsketching. This will also enter you into an end-of-summer product giveaway. Your sketches can can be analog or digital (if you prefer drawing with robots 🤖).
Weekly Prompts
If you struggle to come up with ideas for what to draw, you're in luck. I'll be sending out a new topic each week to use as inspiration for your sketchy adventures. This is a new addition to the project since last year, and I hope this weekly structure will provide a little more MMPH to get you going.
The project officially starts on the first day of summer – June 21st. On that day I will be sending out your first sketch prompt. These are totally optional so if you have your own ideas you can still participate by sharing those.
Monthly Meetups

New products in the works
I'm super excited to be collaborating with my friend Enon Avital of Dapper Notes on some beautiful hand-made pocket sketchbooks for those who are participating in for SoS. I just finished designing a custom pattern for the fabric covers and I can't wait to share it with you soon.
