#Blessed

For the holidays this year, instead of making another chalkboard design, I worked on the above collaboration with my talented photographer friend Andre Rucker.

After sketching the composition, I curled and taped each letter into place. Andre set up the lighting and we slowly added scraps of paper to the pile taking a bunch of photos to create the stop motion effect. Then we ran it in reverse in Photoshop to make it look like the lettering was actually being formed by the shredded paper.

Neither of us normally work with materials like this. We also didn't know exactly how this would turn out but we did it anyway and let the process dictate the results.

I hope this will serve as not only a holiday greeting, but a friendly reminder to go try something new this week. Have fun and experiment!

Stay ‪#‎blessed‬, my friends.
